I stained the deck using Minwax Golden Oak stain. Seemed a fitting color for the Golden Hind. The color was a bit darker than I anticipated, but after drying I was very satisfied with the results.
After the stain dried, it was time to fair the bulkheads. I realized at this point that I glued the first bulkhead on incorrectly, with the hole for the bowsprit being on the wrong side. I corrected it by drilling a similar sized hole into the other side, and planking over the original hole. After a good deal of sanding to level out the bulwarks, I was ready for the first layer of planking.
