Having completed the masts, it was time to attach them to the ship, and start the rigging. When building the Polaris, I had a fairly simple time with the rigging, but the Golden Hind is a different animal altogether. The masts look great though.

My third goal for this build was to approach the rigging more realistically, or at least as realistic as I can given my experience and the nature of 16th century ships. Once I got a hang of the seizing knot, they made the deadeyes really pop. Certainly not perfect, but I took my time, despite some of the knots wanting to bundle up.

I wasn’t as consistent with them as I could have been, but I took some liberties given the age of the ship, and the idea that it had actually been to sea for a while. When the Golden Hind returned to port after the circumnavigation, it was a total mess. No telling what broke and needed fixing.
