“The only thing that ever frightened me during the war was the U-boat peril.”

Kit Details
- Scale: 1/144
- Brand: Revell U-Boat Type VIIC/41

Summary
The Type VIIC was the workhorse of the German U-boat force, with over 500 commissioned between 1940 and 1945. While at their peak effectiveness, the U-boat fleet instilled fear across the ocean. By the end of the war, however, over 75% of the entire U-boat fleet was lost.
My goal with this kit wasn’t to necessarily model a specific boat, but more to get some practice on an intermediary ship size before jumping into larger boats. I also wanted to practice with photo etch and the self-adhering wooden deck before moving onto larger kits.

The wooden deck fit on nicely, and my initial foray into the world of photo etch turned out well. This is an older kit, but fit together nicely, with minimal issues.

I broke off the periscopes after having an issue gluing them, but overall I’m satisfied with the result. Learned a lot with this kit, and was able to carry the lessons into the larger ships.
